Party with Palast on Nov. 16!
I wish I could go to this drink-and-meet in Los Angeles thrown in honor of Morphizm homies Greg Palast and Matt Pascarella, but things are getting intense here at base camp. Which is what I told Greg and Matt when they graciously asked me to show my unshaven mug there, feeling like shit the whole time. But if you can, my friends, you should definitely go, as the proceeds for the event go to help Greg's investigative team keep the heat on grifters everywhere, but especially in the United States government. That, my friends, is called honest, earnest citizenship. If only we were all so tenacious. But enough of the moralizing, here are the details and list of interesting activists making the party with Palast. It's a doozy. If you're in L.A., don't miss it: "Alec Baldwin, Alexandra Paul, Bonnie Raitt, Jodie Evans & Max Palevsky, Lyn & Norman Lear, Marge Tabankin & Earl Katz, Paul & Deborah Haggis, Jackson Browne, Theresa and Blaise Bonpane and Cindy & Ed Asner, & Ben Veeren and Larry David Invite you to meet the award-winning New York Times Bestselling author and Investigative Journalist, Greg Palast. Please join us as we show our support for the non-profit Palast Investigative Fund which finances the Palast’s team groundbreaking reports..."

Speaking of Palast's dogged muckraking, I'm a fan of his latest piece on the midterms, which explains how Virginia got Florida-ted. Those hoping that the Democrats take the state away from Mr. Macaca should read this, and stay vigiliant. Democrats love to congratulate themselves, but considering that this is the first election they have won in many years, they really should shut the fuck up and get to work. Here's Greg, who's here to tell you that the Demos already won Virginia. They just don't know it yet:
"Rather than gossip about the dunking of The Don, I’d rather focus on suspicious electoral arithmetic in Virginia. Only 7,000 votes separates the Democratic Senatorial candidate Jim Webb from incumbent Republican George Allen. Leading up to the election, the State of Virginia rejected more than 91,000 names submitted from voter drives, blocking their registrations. The Brennan Center for Justice at New York University Law School says that Virginia’s methods of rejecting voters had a notably racial bias. Golly...." READ MORE
OK, that's enough for me for now. I've got to get back to the book. Post a comment if any of you would like to read pieces of it as it is completed, whether on Morphizm, HuffPo, whatever. I need feedback like mad, mostly because I've been caught in a mad feedback loop with myself since, well, 2000. Until next time...
