Spectrum Auction Conclusion Sucks Ass
Here's the good news. The lengthy, monumentally important auction for highly desirable wireless spectrum is finally over. Here's the bad news: It was won by two monopolies, Verizon and AT&T, involved in warrantless, and therefore unconstitutional, wiretapping. No film at 11.Meanwhile, Sprint's upstart WiMax network is grounded, along with the telecom's ass-backward stock price. And there are rising concerns about how the D block auction was mired in charges over tampering and collusion. (I blame Google. They have the money.) Whatever the petty dramas are, one thing is for certain: The companies who are now in charge of our limp toward the wireless future are the same ones spying on us within inches of our lives.
Meet the same utopia, same as the old dystopia.
