Back To The Futureheads
More love for/from Metromix, this time for some loud-ass punks from across the pond:
The Futureheads
This is Not the World
Compared to their past work, the Futureheads' latest is an upgrade. Whether it's the frenetic tempo of "Sleet"--whose intro sounds like the Cars' "Just What I Needed" on crack--or the jagged stomp of "Walking Backwards" and "The Beginning of the Twist," "This is Not the World" is a time machine that'll take you back to the future in an eyeblink. The disc rarely lets up from its hard-charging imperative: the title track takes a breather every ten seconds or so, before barreling downhill like a runaway train, and the riffage downpour of "Sale of the Century" is as hardcore as anything Led Zeppelin ever crafted. Just make sure you have a bottle of ibuprofen handy while listening to it all. You might need it... MORE @ METROMIX
