Explosions in the Sky have specialized in epic instrumentals for quite a while now. And even though they produce spiraling sonic head-trips that feel utterly built for intrepid visual exploration, they have yet to release one official video. Until now, that is.
Which is to say, I got to show it off first. The fact that someone in Explosions in the Sky’s extended posse even took the time to delegate to me the responsibility of airing the band’s initial foray into the visual stream felt quite cool indeed. So here it is: “Last Known Surroundings,” courtesy of design studio Ptarma, spearheaded by illustrator Sissy Emmons and animator David Hobizal.
