Miyazaki is a name, and a legend, not to be taken lightly. This historical truth alone is worth a viewing of Goro Miyazaki’s Ronja, The Robber’s Daughter, a rewarding animated adaptation of Astrid Lindgren’s fantastic coming-of-age cli-fi.
Princess Mononoke meets The Never-Ending Man, as Hayao Miyazaki’s blessed return inches closer to the cli-fi future he chronicled, as it happened.
A towering influence.
And yet he still left so much to be discovered.

Led by women and empowered by the natural world, Only Yesterday may not be as well-known as Takahata’s masterpieces like Grave of the Fireflies and The Tale of Princess Kaguya, but its revelatory journey through the rural countryside still covers familiar territory.
My father’s generation lived through and after the war, and basically had nothing. They forged their paths with their own hands, and created their whole world themselves.
A fitting distillation of the filmmaker’s ecological awareness.
you gotta have the yang with the yin. Miyazaki’s films always have both, and Spirited Away is one of his finest.
