GREENVESTING

In 2013, I took a break from writing about cultural, environmental, political, economic, and other concerns. Instead, I plotted another questionable experiment: Divesting anything, and everything, my family, and some friends, had invested in our fossil fuel dystopia.

Instead, I greenvested our collective portfolios in a renewable energy future, decoupling hundreds of thousands of dollars most of my family and friends didn’t even know they had invested in stranded assets.

After a few years, my fears remain confirmed. Investors are still too uninformed about how their daily choices create and sustain the catastrophes they spend much time and money trying to resolve.

The majority of my analyses and reportage chronicled the inevitable rise of the international solar industry. And while it has arguably gone supernova, it remains a significantly oppressed sector, long ignored and underfunded in favor of coal, oil, gas, methane and other apocalyptic investments and infrastructures, whose disproportionate public subsidization has exponentially accelerated global warming.

I shared my philosophy on SolarEnergy.Net, published by Canada’s Pure Energies, which invited me to pound a solar beat. Eventually acquired by NRG, we were quickly shut down.

But my work championing a solar utopia, which could bring to our lives much-needed light in dark times, still lives below. Turn it on.

[NOTE: I MAY BE GREENVESTED IN ANY OR ALL OF THE RENEWABLE INDUSTRY COMPANIES I WRITE ABOUT. THAT’S THE POINT.]
